Stand-Alone PACS Solution for Use with PIV Credentials
The new E-Plex 5870 access controller addresses an important security need at Government facilities, Military bases, essential service stations, and all sites where personnel carry FIPS 201 compatible US Government smart cards. With mechanical keyed-in locks no longer serving today's security and accountability requirements, along with newly announced HSPD-12 security clearance directives, you may be tasked with transitioning your site to card access that needs to articulate with your existing FIPS 201 Government smart cards. The limited selection of these systems however only proves to make the search frustrating. Many times, the wired panel, online systems exceed budgets because of acquisition and installation costs. Enter in the E-Plex E5870, a stand-alone FIPS 201 compliant lock. It is the fastest growing solution in the market for meeting the security clearance requirements set forth by homeland security directive HSPD-12. The 5870 access controller system makes its decisions at the unit, by-passing the need for panels. It features a Patented LectroBolt design for fast installation, and offers you LearnLok™ programming. Optional software is available to help you get up and running fast, realize the benefits of more advanced access control functionality, such as scheduling, and audit trails, and make maintaining the system easy. With the E-Plex 5800, you achieve regulatory compliance by deploying a powerful card system to restrict access, schedule access, track entries, report on events, and manage users and doors.
Maximize Reach of Your Access Control Capabilities
The E-Plex 5800 locks and controller are a flexible, scalable solution. Start out with 1 or 2 locks, then grow your system over time and manage it using software. At first, you may only need to give secure anytime access for a few personnel. You can do this quickly without a PC by typing in a command to the lock, and enrolling their card. This will make the opening more secure, and eliminate the need for individuals to carry more than one card, or keys. As your installed base of locks grow, and you need more control over users and doors, you can add in software. This will allow you to do schedules, user groups, visitor management, and more. For sites already verifying credentials with a perimeter-based, wired online access control system, these stand-alone electronic locks extend your system to doors and applications where it is not practical, or simply too expensive to run wire. E-Plex makes a hybrid solution of both wired, and stand-alone openings easy to do within your common credential, FIPS 201 environment.
3 Field Configurations
The E-Plex 5870 may be used for basic access control, software managed access control, and PKI checking. You can use the lock in any one of these setups without removing it from the door. Basic access control allows you to enroll a user's PIV, CAC, FRAC, TWIC, or PIV-I US Government smart card, directly into the lock, without the need for software. PC managed access is accomplished using General FIPS software. PKI checking is the highest level, allowing you to communicate with the federal bridge, and check the revocation list. Determining which is right for you will depend on your security requirements, and business rules. In the basic access control setup, the identify of individuals is verified using the Federal Agency Smart Credential Number (FASC-N). In the managed solution using General FIPS software, identity is verified using FASC-N, and CHUID. The highest security setup is a complete PIV and PKI solution.
