Auto lock is one of the most popular features, especially for those with children. In order for the lock to "know" when the door is closed, it uses a door-closure sensor embedded in the deadbolt latch. Working with the sensor is a very strong magnet embedded in the dust box of the strike assembly. (strike assembly located in door jamb) The door-closure sensor detects the presence of the magnetic field when the door is closed. This door-closure sensor is part of the patent-pending technology Sunnect has invented for this lock. THERE IS NO OTHER LOCK IN THE WORLD that has this door-closure sensor. It has two very important advantages over traditional door surface-mounted sensors. First, the surface-mounted sensors look ugly, especially in a residential setting. Second, the surface-mounted sensors cannot distinguish whether the sensor is in alignment with the magnet or it is in proximity of a magnet. This often causes the throwbolt to start extending while the door is not quite closed all the way. Our door-closure sensor is like a laser such that it knows exactly when the door is closed all the way.
