As long as this would be installed on a hollow metal door, this lock can certainly be used!
- Q I want to change existing mortise key lock for keyless. what is the distants between mortise inst... answer nowAsked by March 18, 2017 1:32 PMonAThis is a standard American Mortise prep so this lock will fit any ANSI 86 mortise prep. Here is a picture of a standard prep for a Sargent lock. Overall dimensions are the same but hole placement can be different.
- Q Is this lock suitable for exterior location that will get weather exposure? answer nowAsked by October 30, 2016 7:01 PMonA
The manufacturer indicates it is suitable for exterior use. In our experience the best system with the lowest total cost of ownership over the life of the lock for handling rain/snow and extreme temperatures is the Trilogy DL3500 Electronic Mortise Lock.

Have installed many of these in the past few years in an institutional setting.
Easy to install, set, and program.
So far we have had zero issues with any of them (knock on wood)

Absolute garbage. Poor fitment, and poor quality of internal parts. Binding right out of the box.

We have had very good luck with these locks. Have put in 5 at our facility and no complaints.

Thomas from Michigan –
Great lock for a mortise application. Very easy to install and came with installation kits for both kinds of morose applications. The only negative is that surprisingly there isn’t a silent mode. It beeps with each button push and easily wakes people(and dogs)in the wee hours. I’m often getting home from the airport in the early am hours and I’m thinking of taking it apart and pulling out the beeper.
