KeyGuard Pro Keys Will Be Waiting for You As part of a local police department's outreach program for promoting safety, you'll generally see a list of home prevention tips.  High on the list is taking care of your keys.  One of the best ways to do so is with the KeyGuard Lockbox.  Instead of leaving your front door keys on a window ledge, under a flower pot, or tucked under the edge of a doormat, you can use the large storage compartment of the SL500 KeyGuard key vault.  Thieves are savvy.  You're not going to fool them with the creative places you think you've found to leave your keys.  The KeyGuard Pro key safe keeps your keys protected with a combination code of your choosing.  The large buttons on the SL-500 telephone style key pad make setting and changing the code familiar and easy.  Weather resistant, supplied with a removable protective cover, each KeyGuard Pro lock box is able to keep up to 8 keys, access cards, and business cards.  You can secure your keys for others, and ensure no one is locked out.  An optional padlock can secure the shackle so the lockbox cannot be separated from the door, even by those you entrust to have access to your keys.

  3. Made of plastic?!

    Ross Newsome

Description specifically says, “Weather resistant, supplied with a removable protective cover, and made from reinforced metal.” the only part of this $30 lockbox that is made of metal is the latch the rest is plastic… I could hit this a few times with my leatherman and break it open. Do not buy.
P.S. Amazon has FULL steel lockboxes for $15. Having a key lockbox that is made of plastic is just as bad as putting a key under a welcome mat, which contradicts their main selling point.

  4. Poor door mechanism

    Hub Mathewdon (verified owner)

To close the key door you have to re enter the combo. The combo can be entered in any sequence so you can’t use double numbers or letters. You to have to “clear” the combo before the second combo entry actually works. We thought the combo had inadvertently been changed and we couldn’t reopen it. Also flimsy fittings. Not good for multiple users and frequent use. We threw it out.

Customer Questions & Answers

  1. A

These locks only hold a single code at a time.

  2. Answered by the admin

The shackle opens straight upwards and can be rotated while unlocked. You could certainly attach this to the top bar of a fence as long as the bar is not bigger than the shackle clearance.

  3. Q How do you change codes? answer now
Asked by Keith brink on June 24, 2020 6:51 PM
    Answered by the admin

At the bottom of the faceplate back (behind the keypad) there is a white plastic  “key” to change the combination on the KeyGuard Pro.  A small screwdriver can be used as well.  With this key, push in the desired button and turn 180 degrees.  The arrow on the button should now be pointing down towards the base of KeyGuard Pro. This will be done for each letter and/or number in the desired combination.

  4. Q Made where?? answer now
Asked by Beckie on May 8, 2020 10:59 AM
    Answered by the admin

This product is manufactured by FJM, a USA based company.

  5. Q Will it hold cash? answer now
Asked by Daniel o Jack on April 19, 2020 10:34 PM
    Answered by the admin

Yes, you can store cash if desired.

  6. Q How many times can you put in wrong code answer now
Asked by Newton on June 2, 2018 10:57 AM
A This is push button lock and does not have a lockout feature for incorrect code entry. You can continue to enter until you have the right code.
  7. A This lockbox is used to store the keys to that door. You must have all keys that access is this door in order to secure entry. Typically in the scenario of maintenance and housekeeping, the use of a master key is used to get into multiple doors.
  8. Q What is the max amount keys you can fit in the box? answer now
Asked by Rob Pruim on July 26, 2017 8:59 AM
    A

It would depend on the key size but you can get at least three in the box.

  9. A
These are generally used for hanging on knobs and handles for doors. Anything thicker or wider than a standard knob or door handle could be an issue.
  10. Q How many letters/numbers can be used for the combination? answer now
Asked by steffanie on June 6, 2017 11:29 PM
    A

Three to six digits is the recommended code length. Each digit can only be used once.
