  2. Broke at 11 Months

    JAY SCHOENHERR (verified owner)

Chose Turtle backs because Kant Slams are too stiff for elementary students to push open. Had to replace 2 of 6 at 11 months old. Installed according to manufacture instructions and had 90 degree positive gate stops to keep from over extending. Good thing they are cheap!

Closer does not work properly – cannot adjust closing pressure and swing distance adequately to get gate to close softly and completely.

Excellent gate closer. Easy to install and one could easily adjust the pressure of the spring with a screw driver. Very reasonably priced.

I am very happy with the Turtle back gate closer. It has been installed on a wrought Iron gate, and is set to swing inward into a children’s play area at our church. I only wish that there was a second cover for the spring and hydraulic assembly. The supplied cover is required to protect small fingers from being pinched in the springs, but the entire assembly is visible through the gate.

Thank you for carrying this product.

So far so good – I welded them to two exterior iron fence gates.

I was a good product and worked just fine I did paint it white. You should offer it in white also.

These will work with the majority of hinge types, but they do require that the gate and post are on the same plane and not offset so it can mount flush to both the gate and post.

Per the manufacturer the mounting specs are listed here:

You can download the instructions and if you can meet those specs it will work.
