A sturdy, quick solution to preventing any door from being jimmied open, this auxiliary lock from Yale's heavy-duty latchbolt 197 series can be installed on the surface of your door. No cutting into the door edge to create the prep for the deadbolt. The only modification you need to make to install this lock is a small bore through the face of the door. This allows for the cylinder plug to fit through the door from the exterior side and connect to the inside turn unit. Each Yale 197-1/4 double cylinder deadbolt is interlocking in nature. With the turn of a key from the inside or outside, the deadbolt slides vertically through the 'eye-loops' of the strike. With both parts deadlocked together, your door is no longer vulnerable to a prying or knife attack. In use now for almost 100 years, the jimmyproof deadbolt still provides that extra-level of protection for feeling more secure. The heavyweight construction of the Yale 197-1/4 jimmy proof lock puts stability behind this added sense of security.
