Do not purchase unless you are interested in a long term project of frustration

While this item is beautiful to look at and seemingly perfect for our gate, we have had a significant amount of problems with it shortly after installation. This unit was installed by a professional and worked great for a few months…until the handle wouldn’t turn at all. Our gate was rendered useless. We could no longer use it to access the alleyway from the outside OR the inside. I contacted the company regarding their lifetime warranty and they were responsive and quick to replace some parts and show me videos on how to fix things. Unfortunately, we were still having issues so they sent more parts. Guess what? It started to work again…until it didn’t. I was so hopeful for this unit to work. I want to give it all the stars if that would make it work…maybe this is just a defective unit, but Lockey is definitely not willing to replace it and will maybe continue sending replacement parts to ensure it works. We’ll see when their and my patience run out. While I think this unit has potential, it is not worth the hassle if you get one of the lemons.

Overall, these look nice, and unfortunately that’s where it stops. We had an issue where the internal bar got twisted… the gate slammed and it was impossible to unlock it. Ordering replacement parts was similar to mail order of the 90’s and expensive. Needless to say, there aren’t a lot of options in this space, so we were stuck paying and waiting.

It works well enough, was easy to install and set code. However, the latch was damaged right out of the box, so the handle only opens when you pull up. My customer didn't care, but almost put me in a spot because I didn't have anything similar on hand. But it puts me off of buying this brand again.

Installation was a little bit ****, if you are replacing a standard door knob. It will just barely hide the old hole. You will have to drill a hole for the top mount, and a trough in the existing hole for the bottom mount. Installation should be a great deal easier with a new door, and it comes with templates for drilling. Preset with a 4-digit key code, you can add up to 6, or reduce that to 3, and changing the code is not that difficult, but do it before you mount it on the door. (Watch the YouTube videos.) If you are going in and out all day, it has a pass-through mode so you won't have to enter the code. Best of all, it looks great and there are NO batteries, no Apps to install, and no WiFi.
