Looking to use voice commands to lock your door with Amazon Alexa? Simply pair the Schlage FE599 wireless lock to the VeraPlus controller and then enable the Vera skill inside the Alexa app. Speak “Alexa, lock the front door” to your Amazon Echo or Dot, and Vera will lock the door. Cool part is you can add electronic switches, Z-Wave LED bulbs, remote control outlets and other devices to create groups in Alexa for automating certain routines you manually do every day, like turning the lights off and locking the doors when you go to bed at night.

Customer Questions & Answers
- Q I'm assuming this is not Z-Wave Plus, just Z? More importantly, does it work w/Alarm.com? answer nowAsked by August 15, 2019 11:34 AMonA
Correct! This unit is Z-Wave enabled rather than Z-Wave Plus. At this time, there is no Z-Wave Plus version available for this model and this has not been integrated on the alarm.com platform as of yet.
- Q Does this lock automatically lock upon closing or does it stay unlocked for instance, until you l... answer nowAsked by May 8, 2019 3:01 PMonA
Yes, it will auto lock whenever the door is shut as long as the passage feature is turned off, but you do have the option to put the lock into passage mode so it will stay unlocked. Combined with a home automation hub you can lock and unlock from your app.
- Q I have an older Vera Lite Platform that works with older Schlage FE599 locks (2012). I need an ad... answer nowAsked by November 15, 2018 2:16 PMonA
Yes, the FE599 should still work with the VeraLite.
- Q If the door is 2 inch thick can I use the 61-075 Thick door kit ti make it work? answer nowAsked by June 17, 2018 12:25 PMonAUnfortunately, no. The FE5 series keyless entry locks do not have a thick door kit at this time. The one that is being referenced is for the FE285 front entry handle sets which are for our FE3 series combination sets.
- A Currently, to date, this Schlage lock is not integrated with the Nest product.
- Q Can I have unlimited 4 digit codes? For instance, can I set the code to renters last four digits ... answer nowAsked by June 14, 2017 5:21 AMonAWhile you can certainly add and delete codes at any time and as often as you want you're are limited to a total of 19 codes being in the lock at any one time.
- A
Yes it does.
- Q Can this lock be used outside where both sides of the door are exposed to weather? This info is h... answer nowAsked by February 18, 2017 12:44 PMonAUnfortunately, no this cannot be used outside where both sides are exposed to weather. For a gate, you will need to use something commercial such as the E2031XS or a DL2700WP. However, those do not have a wireless capability as of now we do not have a wireless locking system in a stand alone format that would be considered weatherproof on both sides.
- Q Do I need to order anything else to allow the door lock to communicate with the WIFI in the house? answer nowAsked by September 30, 2016 11:59 AMonAFor this specific lock it does not use WIFI for communication. It uses a different protocol called Z-wave. So while it still works without wires it will not work with your WIFI. You need to purchase an additional item called a Z-wave HUB/Bridge to use with this lock. We recommend either the Schlage Nexia which will give you all of the options available for this lock or you can use the VeraPlus. If you wish to use your WIFI to connect to the Z-wave HUB/Bridge the VeraPlus is the way to go.

ProChauffeur –
This is a great lock. Connects with the Wink Hub and works great. Looks good with the Ring door bell with the same look. I can unlock it from afar and let workers in. There are other deadbolts that will do the same, but this one had the handle that I needed for my door. Looking for another another to purchase soon for the backdoor.
Do yourself a favor and get one of these locks especially if your into Home Automation.

The Schlage Nexia Wireless Remote lock was easy to install and configure. They have an iPhone App that allows me to monitor and unlock the door from across the country. I use this to unlock the door with the maid standing at the front door. I can also “check” to see if I remembered to lock the door. It is a great addition to my home. This is a great product for anyone needing remote unlock capabilities.

The Schlage Nexia Lock has been awesome to work with. I can monitor who goes into the house and it tells me if the door is locked or not. It is easy to use and I love the numerous codes that can be used to let guests or utility workers, etc. into the house. I can change a code from my Blackberry or my laptop. It is quick, easy and records every use of that lock. I would recommend it to anyone.
