It is a mechanical lock so it is able to be used in weather including rain.
- Q I currently have an ONITY Electronic Mortise Lock. Will this unit retrofit to the existing templa... answer nowAsked by March 8, 2017 9:20 AMonA
Unfortunately, this lock is not installed the same as the ONITY locks. However, as long as your previous install does not impair the use of a remodeler plate you could use them to cover the previous install holes and re-drill new ones.
Erik from New York –
Very pleased with the Simplex L8146. This lock has notably improved the security of our building: Now that the lock has been installed’ never again will the door be left unlocked. Nor will we ever be locked out due to forgetting keys. Only minor complication was the installation’ which in our case required a new hole cut in a heavy steel door. Nevertheless’ this lock is solid and worth every penny.

Kate and David Merrill from Illinoi –
The buttons on the lock freeze in cold weather and we have been unable to open without the key. Pretty disappointed considering the expense of the item. I would appreciate any suggestions.
