Bad outweighs the good

We have three of these locks installed. We gave up on using the finger scanner almost immediately. This was one of the main reasons we choose this lock. One of the locks is set up to operate on a schedule. It should remain locked until someone enters after 7:15AM and then it remains unlocked until 4:00PM. The lock unlocks itself before anyone has entered. It has also been unlocked on weekends when it is set to be locked. The other two locks are set to remain locked all the time and only unlock with a code. The lock that gets the most weather expose has failed twice. We have been using these locks less than 2 years.

This tiny sentence in the lock description on the site should tell you all you need to know. I've been waiting years for them to correct an error from an "update that broke this ability". These locks eat through batteries like candy and the biometric is sketchy at best. I cannot dissuade you strongly enough to stay away from these locks.

The manuals state that at this time you cannot use zwave to transfer user data to the lockset. It can only be done via usb. I cannot find anywhere how this is done. I have 25 people set up in the ms1 software with pins and 3 sets of fingerprints each. Do I need to do this all over again manually at the lockset itself? Also, what is the purpose of the zwave feature? I can't use it for what I purchased the lockset for.

To transfer user information from the software to the lock, please follow the steps below: - Within the MS1 software, click on the Lock tab on the left. - Under the 'All MS1' folder, left click to highlight the lock you wish to export to the flash drive. You may also select the folder underneath 'All MS1' to export all locks in that group. - Above the 'All MS1' folder, you should see 4 blue/silver buttons. Click on the 4th button (this should look like a padlock with a globe in the front) and choose 'Export Data to USB'. - Select a blank USB drive connected to your PC and press OK! - You will receive a successful export message for each lock selected. Once you have a preloaded flash drive with the locks user information, you may bring this over to the lock! - Insert the flash drive into the bottom of the unit (the interior battery unit) and press the M key. - The lock may prompt you for a master PIN or FP. This will be the credential for any User# 1-3 currently enrolled in the device - Once in the lock menu, select Option 3 for Flash Drive and press M - Choose Option 2 for Upload and press M. - Please ensure that the flash drive is not removed until the transfer is complete. Once complete, the lock will return to the upload screen,. - Press the E key until the screen says Bye to exit the settings menu. At this point, you may remove the flash drive and the lock should be updated with the new information! At this time, the Z-Wave connection will allow for you to wirelessly unlock or lock the door through the software as well as pull the audit log to view who entered the lock at specific dates/times. For user information, this still must be done using the USB method above.

Does this work outdoors? Is it waterproof?

The outside unit is IP-56 rated and is weatherproof for exterior doors. The interior battery unit is not recommended for outdoor use.

Do I have to add a user's fingerprint to each individual lock or can I only add them at one lock with a database that filters to all of the other locks?

You would need to add the fingerprints at a laptop or Desktop PC which has a Z-wave controller added to it in order to filter them to other locks. It cannot be done at one lock and filtered to others.
